Huawei files trademark for new earbuds “MateBuds”

Huawei is set to bring new products in the second half of 2020, including the Mate 40 series, TWS headphones and more. According to the LetsGoDigital report, Huawei has registered a trademark for “MateBuds” with different intellectual property organizations globally.

The ‘MateBuds’ brand name was already filed on April 7, 2020. On May 26, 2020, a request was also filed with the KIPO (Korean Intellectual Property Office). The same day the application was also filed with the CIPO (Canadian Intellectual Property Office), where the brand name is mentioned separately as well as together: ‘MateBuds’ and ‘Mate Buds’.

Subsequently, Huawei also registered the same trademark in Madrid, Spain, after which the brand name was also included in the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) database for the worldwide protection of the trademark. The application was approved worldwide on July 4, 2020.

This new trademark ‘MateBuds’ categorized in  Class 9, which includes:’ headphones, in-ear headphones; wearables; VR headsets and earpads for headphones’.
