Samsung will supply foldable OLED panels to Huawei

Huawei with the help of Samsung display, started foldable OLED panels development for the new foldable smartphone, Huawei will release the upgraded version of the foldable phone in the second half of the year. Huawei’s first foldable smartphone Mate X uses panels produced by LG Display and BOE, and Xiaomi is also considering using Samsung display panels for its foldable phones next year.

Huawei announced last year, that an upgraded version of the Huawei Mate Xs folding screen phone will be available in March 2020. Huawei Mate Xs will upgrade the Mate30 series with the same Kirin 990 5G SoC. This is the industry ’s first use of TSMC’s 7nm + EUV extreme ultraviolet lithography process, which integrates up to 10.3 billion transistors.

The Kirin 990 5G uses a three-stage energy efficiency architecture with two super-large cores (developed based on Cortex-A76) + two large cores (developed based on Cortex-A76) + four small cores (Cortex-A55), and the industry’s first integration of 16-core Mali-G76 GPU.
