Surprise: Huawei Mate 9 getting May 2021 patch and new apps update

Here’s the surprise for Huawei Mate 9 smartphone users in Europe. The Mate 9 smartphone users are now getting May 2021 security patch and new Apps after more than half a year. The latest update is rolling out with software version EMUI 9.1.0.296.

The update can be downloaded as an OTA update. A download via WLAN is recommended due to the size of the data if you do not have enough data volume. The update amounts to 652MB. To do this, go to Settings -> System -> System update. If you don’t see an update yet, keep calm.

Integrated Android security patches released in May 2021 for improved system security.

[Calls]
Resolves an issue where unusual noises may be made during calls in certain situations

[Apps]
Adds the Huawei apps folder to the home screen to keep you up to
date on popular apps .
Adds the following apps: Petal Search, Books, GameCenter, and Browser.
Adds quick download shortcuts for the following apps: Petal Maps,
Member Center, Link Now, and Celia Keyboard. The apps can be
downloaded by tapping the shortcuts.

Notes on updating:
1. Your personal data will not be deleted by the update. However, we recommend that you back up important data before updating.
2. If you encounter problems during the update, call the Huawei customer service line or visit a Huawei customer service center.
3. Your system ringtones may change after installing this update. Go to Settings> Sounds to set new ringtones.

How to update?

Install/download it via your phone setting, tap on Settings > System > Software update > Check for Updates > Download and install.

Or download update via HiCare (Support) App:  Support app -> ‘Services’ -> ‘Update’ >‘Check for updates’ -> ‘Download and install’.
