Huawei Pura 80 Ultra: The Phone That Takes Amazing Photos
Chinese phone maker Huawei just released the newest phone called the Pura 80 Ultra. This phone is all about taking great pictures. Usually, Huawei only sells phones in China, but this time the company is all set to bring this phone to other countries too.
What Makes This Phone Special?
The Pura 80 Ultra isn’t the fastest phone you can buy, but it has something no other phone has. It’s the first phone in the world with two zoom cameras stacked on top of each other. Pretty cool, right?
You’ll also notice this phone looks different. It has a triangle-shaped camera bump on the back that really stands out.
The Camera System
The camera is where this phone really shines. Here’s what you get:
- Main camera: 50MP with a huge 1-inch sensor
- Wide-angle camera: 40MP for those group shots
- Color helper: 1.5MP sensor that makes colors look better
- Zoom camera: 50MP telephoto lens (the biggest on any phone)
The zoom camera is the real star here. It can zoom in 3.7 times without losing quality. But here’s the fun part – it also has a motorized periscope that gives you 9.7 times zoom. That’s almost as good as Samsung’s Galaxy S23 Ultra, which zooms 10 times, but Huawei uses a much bigger camera sensor.
What’s Inside?
Huawei didn’t say which processor powers this phone, but experts think it’s their own Kirin 9020 chip. The screen is 6.8 inches, super bright (3,000 nits), and refreshes 120 times per second for smooth scrolling.
Different Versions
Here’s where it gets interesting. If you buy this phone in China, you get:
- 5G internet
- Satellite connectivity
- HarmonyOS 5.1 (Huawei’s own system)
- 5,700mAh battery
Both versions come with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage space.
Cool Features
The phone has a new “AI Smart Controls” button that lets you quickly access things like:
- AI camera features
- Flashlight
- Camera app
What’s really neat is this button also works as a fingerprint sensor. You don’t see that often in flagship phones.
Charging and Colors
You can charge this phone super fast – 100W with a cable and 80W wirelessly. It comes in two colors: black and gold.
Price
In China, the Pura 80 Ultra costs 9,999 yuan (about $1,400 USD). Huawei hasn’t announced the price for other countries yet.

Huawei Kunlun Glass Replacement Service Adds New Pura 70 Series Phones
Huawei Pura 70 Series devices are now added to the Kunlun glass replacement service support, as per the latest information, the price starts at 499 yuan (discounted price before December 31). The official stated that “if the user’s mobile phone accidentally falls and the screen is shattered, they can choose the relevant glass replacement service.”
It is reported that Huawei Kunlun Glass is made of nano-microcrystalline glass, which is said to be able to improve toughness and reduce the risk of screen breakage. The glass has obtained the “world’s first Swiss SGS five-star glass drop resistance certification” and can “strongly protect the screen.”
Users who need Kunlun glass replacement service can place an order on Huawei Mall and then go to the service store for replacement, or they can go directly to the store to participate in related activities.

Future flip foldables from Huawei
According to the latest informaiton, the Chinese tech giant Huawei has patented a few designs for its future foldable phones. It was spotted on the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) via 91mobiles.
There are five designs for a folding design. Overall, the foldable design is the same but it’s the camera placement that’s different for each model. At present, the Huawei Pocket 2 has four cameras clubbed into a single module. It has another ring just below that houses the cover display.
In the latest patents, there’s one design with two circular rings on the exterior of the phone with one bigger than the other. The two rings are placed diagonally. We can assume that the bigger ring will house the cover display, while the smaller one features the cameras. Another patent is similar to the Huawei Pocket 2 except that the circular rings are placed horizontally and not vertically. The circular rings are of the same size.
Huawei is also experimenting with square-shaped camera modules for its flip phones. Similar to the circular rings, one patent shows a bigger square and a smaller one placed vertically.
