Huawei P40 Series getting February 2022 security patch update

Huawei announced three new smartphones at the online-only event last year, as it took the wraps off the Huawei P40, P40 Pro, and the P40 Pro+. The phones were launched with the EMUI 10.1 and since then all devices had received a number of updates in the form of EMUI 10.1, EMUI 11, and more. Now, it’s time for the HarmonyOS update, the company has started rolling out the HarmonyOS 2.0.0.223 update for the P40 Series. This update adds February 2022 security patch.

Security: Integrates the Android security patch released in February 2022. The January 2022 security patch includes 1 medium-level CVE in the kernel, 1 high-level CVE in the system as well as 1 critical, 9 high, and 30 medium levels of CVEs in third-party libraries. The Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) system tracks publicly known security vulnerabilities and exposures in publicly released software packages.

To recall, Huawei launched the P40 Pro 5G phone on 26th March 2020. The phone sports a 6.58-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 1200×2640 pixels and an aspect ratio of 20:9. Huawei P40 Pro 5G is powered by a 2.86GHz octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 990 5G processor that features 2 cores clocked at 2.86GHz, 2 cores clocked at 2.36GHz and 4 cores clocked at 1.95GHz. It comes with 8GB of RAM.

The Huawei P40 Pro 5G runs Android 10 and is powered by a 4200mAh non-removable battery. Huawei P40 Pro 5G on the rear packs a 50-megapixel primary camera with an f/1.9 aperture; a 40-megapixel camera with an f/1.8 aperture; a 12-megapixel camera with an f/3.4 aperture, and a Depth camera. It has a 32-megapixel camera on the front for selfies with an f/2.2 aperture.

The Huawei P40 Pro 5G runs EMUI 10.1 is based on Android 10 and packs 256GB of inbuilt storage that can be expanded via Nano Memory Card card. Connectivity options on the Huawei P40 Pro 5G include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/Yes, GPS, Bluetooth v5.10, NFC, Infrared, USB OTG, USB Type-C, 3G, and 4G.
