Germany decided not to ban Huawei 5G

Following the UK, now Germany also decided not to ban Huawei 5G. The German ruling party CDU accepted the documents on Tuesday that includes not to ban Huawei from participating in Germany’s 5G network construction.

The release of this document indicates that Germany has rejected the United States’ call for allies to ban Huawei. Earlier the British government also officially announced that it would not ban Huawei 5G, and the EU also supported Huawei’s actions based on rules.

To recall, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson confirmed after the meeting that Huawei will allow limited participation in the construction of 5G networks in the UK. Britain excludes Huawei from “security-related” and “security-critical” network construction. It is reported that Huawei can only participate in the construction of peripheral networks, with a market share of up to 35%.

Germany’s decision could have a significant impact on other EU countries. Setting aside political influence, the fact that Germany accounts for about 30% of the EU’s 5G market “is sufficient for EU operators to follow.”

Following the UK and EU statements, Austria has also announced the country’s 5G policy, making it clear that it will not exclude Huawei.
