Huawei Mate 60 phone finally tested satellite Internet

According to the latest report from China Mobile, the China Mobile Research Institute and industrial partners together developed the satellite core network and “Star System” for the onboard regeneration model and reportedly completed the entire satellite ground Testing and space environment adaptability testing.

China Mobile said that in view of the characteristics of low-orbit satellites such as fast movement and wide coverage, the satellite core network optimizes basic 5G processes including session management, mobility management, QoS guarantee and other capabilities to achieve efficient satellite-ground networking.

The test simulated the orbital trajectory of the satellite at an orbital altitude of 550Km. Together with partners such as Shanghai Microsatellite, Huawei, Aipulu, and Fusion Technology, we built a test terminal, ground 5G base station, ground gateway station, and satellite-borne wireless transceiver.

The end-to-end link to the satellite core network verifies the applicability of low-orbit satellite communications in wired and wireless conditions in high dynamics, large delay, narrow beam and IP over CCSDS transmission environments. As can be seen from the official picture of China Mobile, the test device is a Huawei Mate 60 series mobile phone, which supports Beidou satellite two-way communication.

In the actual on-board regeneration mode, the downlink rate of the satellite core network can reach 5Mbps, the uplink rate can reach 1Mbps, and the on-board forwarding rate can reach 230Mbps, the on-board forwarding delay is less than 1ms, and the performance is in line with expectations.
