At the China Automotive Industry Development Summit Forum, Chi Linchun, President of BU Marketing and Sales and Service Department of Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., Huawei Smart Car Solutions, said that Huawei does not build cars because of multiple considerations.

Chi Linchun revealed that Huawei’s ICT (information and communication technology) business has huge commercial interests in Europe, and Germany is a very important market. The automobile industry is Germany’s pillar industry. If Huawei builds a car, it will directly compete with local car companies.

Chi Linchun also said that cars are different from mobile phone terminals. At present, Huawei does not have the ability to build cars, and will not hold or invest in any auto companies.

Huawei issued a statement on May 24 to reiterate that it will not build cars, stating that “Huawei does not build cars. This long-term strategy has been clear in 2018 and there has been no change.”

Huawei said at the time that it has not invested in any car companies so far. In the future, it will not invest in any auto companies, nor will it hold or participate in shares. In the future, all discussions that Huawei builds cars or participates in the auto manufacturing industry are rumors and should not be trusted.

Huawei HarmonyOS operating system car has attracted attention, and currently, only the HI version of BAIC Jihu Alpha S is equipped with the Harmony (Hongmeng) system. Huawei has released new smart car solutions such as Hongmeng OS smart cockpit, smart driving computing platform MDC810, and high-resolution 4D imaging radar.
