Statistics show that Chinese companies, including Huawei and ZTE, hold 34.02% of the world’s 5G SEP, ranking first in the world. Among them, Huawei has the largest number of 5G SEPs. Huawei ranked first with 3147 items, accounting for 15.05 %, becoming a leader in the 5G communications industry.
The reason why Huawei owns many 5G patents is that it is inseparable from continuous high R&D investment. According to the 2019 financial report data released by Huawei, in 2019, Huawei’s R&D expenditures reached as high as 131.659 billion yuan, accounting for 15.3% of Huawei’s overall revenue.
Ericsson has always been Huawei’s strongest rival. Its patents were just behind Huawei at the beginning of the year, and are now being squeezed out of the top five.
