Huawei will invest $10 million in Russia to support HMS

Huawei announced at a recent developer event in Russia that it will invest $10 million for Huawei Mobile Services (HMS). Earlier,  Huawei announced a £20 million investment plan to encourage British and Irish developers to integrate applications into the HMS ecosystem.

Huawei recently launched HMS Core 4.0 to the world, saying that the launch of HMS Core 4.0 will help global developers to develop efficiently, grow rapidly, and succeed in business.

Huawei Russia branch executives said at the event that Huawei welcomes the Russian developer community to actively participate in Huawei’s ecological integration, and Huawei will continue to invest to ensure effective joint development, the report said.

Russia’s leading Internet companies are working hard to participate in the HMS ecosystem, and users can already download needed applications in the Huawei App Gallery.

In recent months, Russian developers including companies such as Vkontakte, Odnoklassniki, Ozon, Wildberries, Kinopoisk, and Wink, have joined forces to be involved in the HMS, the report said.

In Android applications, the influence of Russian users is significant. Russian users rank fifth in the world in terms of downloads, and their contribution accounts for the ninth in the world.

In May last year, after the US Department of Commerce included Huawei in the entity list, Google stopped providing GMS (Google Mobile Services) services to Huawei’s new mobile phones. Huawei HMS is designed to replace GMS.

As it was banned from using GMS, Huawei created its own HMS and has launched a fund to encourage ecological developers, covering maps, music, video, email and other fields.
