Huawei announced a server operating system, openEuler at the 4th Huawei Conference in Shanghai On September 19 last year. Huawei also revealed that Huawei is preparing open source communities with companies such as Red Flag and Wuhan Shenzhidu at the same time.

Huawei will gradually open up its technology accumulation in the field of ICT basic software, and open source the basic platform capabilities in the operating system, compiler / JDK and other fields to the openEuler community.

In the openEuler community, users can download operating system installation images or source code, quickly understand and learn the implementation of the openEuler OS.

The openEuler has two open-source sub-projects: A-Tune and iSula: A-Tune is an intelligent performance optimization system software and iSula is a cloud-native solution that can meet the multiple needs of the ICT field.

Developers can access the following links to obtain relevant code and documents for reference and learning, and to understand the architecture and source code of the openEuler operating system.

EulerOS is one of the best-operating systems currently supporting TaiShan servers. It has strong competitiveness in terms of performance, compatibility, and power consumption.

  • Improve multi-core concurrency and enhance business performance; L2 Cache sharing technology to improve access efficiency between different OSD processes; for the first time, a kernel patch is implemented in Kunpeng processor architecture.
  • By enabling the key features of the Kunpeng processor, it has achieved performance breakthroughs in core business scenarios and has continued to contribute to the open-source communities such as Linux kernel, virtualization, GCC, OpenJDK, and Docker.

Also the company has announced that Huawei’s database GaussDB will also be open-source, which currently covers 70% of enterprise business scenarios, and will be fully online before June 30, 2020.
