Huawei applied for MateStation trademark, could be a dock for Mate 40 phones

Huawei MateStation

Huawei has applied an application with INDECOPI on July 6, 2020 in Peru for a new trademark named MateStation that could be used for mobile docking accessories. Recently, Huawei has registered a number of brands like “Mate V” and “Ark Compiler”.

The Huawei MateStation may be compatible with the upcoming Mate 40 series and even flagship products like the rumored Mate V, as the Mate 40 series launch is near. The patent application was first reported by Dutch media LetsGoDigital.

The Huawei Mate 20 series has already had an EMUI computer mode, and with the MateStation, users may also be able to connect a mouse and keyboard, as well as a USB stick or other media for transferring data. The MateStation may become the next step.

Earlier leak suggests the Huawei Mate 40 series will use the 5nm Kirin 1000 or 1020 processor. This chip is said to improve performance by 50% over the Kirin 990 SoC. If this smartphone is compatible with the Huawei MateStation, it should offer users a smooth desktop experience. It remains to be seen, of course, whether the Huawei MateStation will be delivered with the Mate 40 series.
