Huawei asks Verizon to pay more than $1 billion in patent license

Huawei asked Verizon, the largest operator in the United States, to pay more than 230 patent license fees, totaling more than $1 billion. These patents involve the network equipment of more than 20 supplier companies of Verizon, including some major US technology companies.

These Huawei patents cover core network equipment, wired infrastructure and IoT technology, and insiders say these patent license fees exceed $1 billion.



Verizon Wireless was originally the second-largest mobile operator in the United States. After acquiring Alltel from Atlantis Holdings LLC, Verizon Wireless has 83.7 million mobile subscribers, surpassing AT&T Wireless to become the new US mobile communications leader.
