Smartphone shipments in China decreased by 38 percent

In China, January 2020 smartphone shipment is too bad due to coronavirus, the phone shipments decreased by 38.9 percent. The CAICT (Chinese Academy of Information and Communication Technology) has recently shared this figure.

Also, deliveries of domestic brands declined by 42.9 percent. Coronavirus is said to be the main reason for the decline in smartphone shipments in China. However, that is not the only reason. The Chinese New Year holiday is also highlighted.

The Covid-19 outbreak even forced companies to close several factories in China. The same goes for some retail stores.

International Data Corporation (IDC) and Strategy Analytics said they expect China’s smartphone shipments to decrease more than 30 percent year-over-year in the first quarter of the year.

Overall domestic mobile phone market shipments. In January 2020, the total domestic mobile phone market shipment was 20.813 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 38.9%, of which 346,000 were 2G mobile phones, 15.003 million 4G mobile phones, and 5.465 million 5G mobile phones.

The number of new models listed in the domestic mobile phone market. In January 2020, 34 new models were launched, a year-on-year increase of 6.3%, of which 8 were 2G mobile phones, 18 were 4G mobile phones, and 8 were 5G mobile phones.
