On December 17, China Mobile held the 2019 Intelligent Hardware Quality Report award ceremony. Huawei ’s flagship 5G chip, the Kirin 990 5G, won the “Best 5G Chip Award” in the 5G project. China Mobile said in a previous report that Kirin 990 5G achieved the best star rating in the 5G multi-antenna throughput performance.
Apart from Huawei’s Kirin 990 5G there are many competitors who participated, Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ Snapdragon X50, MediaTek Helio M70, Samsung Exynos 9820 + S5100. Except for the Kirin 990 5G, Qualcomm has a slight advantage in high signal-to-noise ratio combined with high-speed mobile scenarios, and MediaTek’s downlink rate is outstanding.
Recently, Huawei introduced Nova 6 series in Wuhan, China and launched the Nova 6, Nova 6 5G, and the Nova 6 SE which is powered by a Kirin 990 processor and it is paired with the Balong 5000 modem which brings support for NSA and SA 5G networks.
Kirin 990 5G is Huawei ‘s first flagship 5G SoC, adopting a leading 7nm + EUV process, natively integrated 5G baseband, smaller area, lower power consumption; first to support NSA / SA dual architecture.
