Huawei has participated in 5G trials in India. I“5G trials will be done with all vendors and operators,” telecom minister Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters on Monday. “We have taken an in-principle decision to give 5G spectrum for trials.” On being asked specifically about Huawei, Prasad said that at this stage, all vendors are invited.
The US government says China could use Huawei products to spy on other nations. Huawei is presently the world’s largest telecommunications equipment maker and a leading smartphone brand and was in a good position to clinch a majority of the world’s 5G equipment contract before the US debacle began.
This is coming just days after Britain’s security chiefs reportedly gave Prime Minister Boris Johnson the nod to allow Huawei to provide non-core 5G equipment.
Telefonica, one of the major telecommunications operators in Germany, announced a major investment plan. Telefonica said it would expand its network construction in the next few years. Also, the Foxconn manufacturing and assembly plant have accepted the full order for next year’s Huawei 5G smartphones based on the Huawei 5G module. The Unit count is 50 million which is a huge number for the 5G devices.
