IDC has recently announced the smartphone market analysis report for the third quarter of 2020 and now the tablet report is also available, the global tablet computer market achieved year-on-year growth of 24.9% in the third quarter (Q3) of 2020, with shipments reaching 47.6 million units.
Due to the restrictions of the virus epidemic, the demand for basic computing and large-screen devices has promoted the tablet computer market.
Compared with the increase in consumer spending on technology, other categories such as catering, entertainment, and tourism have declined during the epidemic. Huawei shipped 4.9 million units in the third quarter of 2020, a year-on-year increase of 32.9%. The company’s decline was mostly due to Amazon’s better performance than Q2 2020. Nevertheless, Huawei’s tablet business is uncertain without component suppliers and GMS (Google Mobile Services).
Meanwhile, Apple shipped 13.9 million iPads in Q3 2020. The company’s growth increased by 17.4% YoY and captured 29.2% of the market and becomes the leader in the table.
