IDC: Huawei ranked first in global smartphone market share in Q2 2020

Recently in the Canalys report, Huawei surpasses Samsung in Q2 2020 Global Smartphone Market. Now IDC also shared a new quarterly report, data indicates that the second quarter of 2020 global smartphone shipments down by 16.0% year on year. All companies sold 278.4 million smartphones in the second quarter of 2020 worldwide.

The report pointed out that from a regional perspective, the Chinese market performed slightly better, with a decrease of 10.3%. The Asia-Pacific region (excluding China and Japan), Western Europe, and the United States saw declines of 31.9%, 14.8%, and 12.6%, respectively.

Huawei shipped 55.8 million units in the second quarter, down 5.1% year-on-year, ranking first. Samsung shipped 54.2 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 28.9%, and its market share was 19.5%. Apple shipped 37.6 million units, an increase of 11.2% year-on-year, and its market share was 13.5%.
