Huawei P40 Lite smartphone users in the global market experiencing EMUI 12 beta testing for the last two months. Now, the P40 Lite users are finally able to install the update. The update size will be approximately 3GB.
Since EMUI 12 is a major update, you should definitely take the time to make a backup of your data this time. You can find the data backup in the settings under System → Backup & restore. You can find out the details of the EMUI 12 in the changelog below. In addition, the update also includes the security patch for January 2022.

Notes on Updating
This update will not delete your personal information. However, it is recommended to back up important data before updating.
Some third-party apps that are not compatible with EMUI 12 may not work properly after updating. It is recommended to update these apps to the latest version in the app store
If you encounter problems during the update, call HUAWEI customer hotline or visit a HUAWEI customer service center.
The home screen layout may change slightly.
The system version can be rolled back to the official version EMUI 11 in HiSuite. If you roll back the system version, all your personal data will be deleted. Therefore, back up your data beforehand.
The update package will be automatically deleted after the update is complete.
