Huawei cares about the health and well-being of its customers, partners, and employees. The Corona Warning app, an important tool to contain the corona pandemic, will, therefore, be supported by HUAWEI smartphones – for both HMS and GMS devices.
This ensures that all users of HUAWEI smartphones can use the Corona warning app. This is made possible by an update of the HMS Core Contact Shield. The interface uses the Bluetooth low energy standard to detect other devices in the vicinity and to communicate with them.
Details on the HMS Core Contact Shield
“The HUAWEI Contact Shield is part of the current version 4.1.0.301 of HMS Core, which users of HMS devices can update free of charge. The application is based on the interfaces from Google and Apple for contact measurement and can communicate with the respective devices of the two companies. Users can determine whether they want to activate the Contact Shield themselves. No personal information is recorded or stored through the use of anonymous identifiers. In addition to the option of manually deleting all data, the historical data stored on the device is also automatically removed when the app is deleted” – Huawei Press Release.
Corona Warn App: [Germany]
Huawei users can currently only use the app if they have installed Google Mobile Services. The Corona Warn app is officially available. You can download it from the App Store (iOS) or Play Store (Android). Regarding the Huawei AppGallery, the app will soon be available (the actual date is not confirmed).
